In the first quarter of 2015, CYREN security analysts noted a steep rise in phishing URLs, tracking 3.86 million at the end of March compared to 2.55 million at the start of the year – a 51% increase. Additionally, the report emphasizes the ever-growing risk to business data from Web and email-based malware, as well as breaches involving the cloud-based collaboration services that organizations use to boost productivity.
Further Report Highlight: 30 percent of all email-attached malware in the last six months was identified as macro malware with .doc, .xls, or .docx extensions – a nearly dormant attack method for the last 10 years that is now experiencing a clear resurgence.
